Meet the Artist
Impetus
So, I peek through a glass,
but what do I see?
A future tied with the lives of others –
not one that is just planned for me.
I gaze at the prospect of hope
and unknown, obscure rewards –
an understanding that life reveals,
but some secrets are still hidden behind doors.
This vague and unknown path
that I must begin to embark upon
is partially concealed,
yet, the pull toward it is so strong.
Now, I ask my God for guidance –
“Please show me your blessed way!”
He listens and answers my prayer –
“Just follow me”, I hear Him say.
Then, I remember that no one else
can disclose the clear future
He designed for me,
and with that knowledge
I must completely trust Him –
“Lord, lead the way to my destiny!”

Note - This poem is related to a Biblical quote from the following scripture, Corinthians 13:12 (KJV): “For now, we see through a glass, darkly;
but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know
even as also I am known.”

Biography
I am an educator, artist, and writer with a desire to enhance the love of art and culture in our community. By finding different ways of combining the visual arts with literature for viewing and gallery display, my aim is to focus on the emphasis of abstract categorical themes (such as God, love, and nature). These types of concepts are very powerful!
I have been drawing and painting since I was a small child, but I did not start writing stories or poems until much later in life. As time has gone on, my graphic art work discovery began to expand in 2013. I have enjoyed the process of creating in each of these genres, and with the use of many different mediums that also include charcoal, oil, water color, etc. As a result of introducing the various projects I have developed, it is my hope that other artists and writers will be able to appreciate the possibilities that exist when the visual arts and literature are combined.

Obscurity
A God of all with no constraints,
that’s what He is to me.
Our Savior who forgives with love,
despite the vast iniquity.
Who said I cannot go to Him,
and “ask for help in times of need?” 1
No one can change the promises He made,
His guarantees cannot be perceived.
Yet, I ask the dear Lord for guidance
to get me through this very day,
and an answer comes so quickly
that I don’t even know what to say.
As He hears my solemn prayer,
and assures me of His will,
the response is “I will bless you now,
so my little lamb, be still.” 2

Note - 1-2 Short portions of these phrases are taken from Biblical quotes in the following scriptures:
Hebrews 4:16 (KJV) – “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy,
and find grace to help in time of need.” Psalms 46:10 (KJV) – “Be still, and know that I am God …”

A Woman of High Favor
Her blessed promise came from Heaven above,
to bring us the Savior of hope and real love.
Yet, she too did suffer the pain and scorn
her Son endured after He was born.
To save us all from sin and shame,
He died on the cross, and then rose again.
Now, we await the day of His return;
but to obtain salvation,
we must read His words and learn.
What He has said is the truth that will surely be revealed
to anyone who can believe
He hears prayers and is able to heal.
Giving of ourselves unselfishly in this life
is also a part of His plan
to end division and senseless strife.
So, now is the time to know just how His mother felt
while sacrificing something that she loved
even more than her own self.

My contemporary version of this classic sculpture depicts a solemn front-facing view of Michelangelo’s Pieta, and the focus is mainly on her grief after having to bear such a tremendous loss, which inspired the content of my poem entitled “A Woman of High Favor.”
This art work selection is my modern version of a contemplating profile for the shepherd who would become king.
During this time period in all of our lives right now, there are so many obstacles to overcome; but when David was faced with his challenge, he analyzed the situation and then demonstrated faith in God. He was not afraid to use the knowledge gained over time to conquer his adversary and become victorious!
